Overview
Mike Sweeney has litigated employment/labor and corporate and commercial disputes in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as admission pro hac vice in matters the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Supreme Court of New York, and the Superior Court of California. He has extensive litigation and trial experience in state and federal courts in PA and NJ, including defending private and governmental entities in employment and civil rights matters, as well as businesses in commercial disputes. Mike also defends licensed professionals, including skilled nursing facilities, architects and engineers, and insurance professionals against allegations that they breached their professional standards of care.
Prior to joining O’Hagan Meyer, Mike’s experience included 16 years at Lyman & Ash, a boutique litigation firm representing individuals and corporate entities in civil rights and employment matters, and 5 years at Archer & Greiner, as a Commercial Litigation Associate. He also has experience representing school districts against claims of workplace discrimination and wrongful termination. Mike also served as a mediator in New Jersey.
Mike is a longstanding resident of Philadelphia. He has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations including the Woodford-Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge, Mazzoni Center, and the Washington Square West Civic Association. In his free time, he enjoys traveling to experience new countries, cultures, and cuisines. He has been a longstanding member of the Philadelphia LGBTQ+ Bar Association and has attended numerous Lavender Law conferences conducted by the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association.

- Obtaining two favorable verdicts on behalf of a corporate entity and an individual business owner after a three-week civil rights trial in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania
- Obtaining a defense verdict on behalf of four NJ State Troopers after a three-week civil rights trial in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey
- Negotiating a $1 Million settlement for a New Jersey towing company against a government entity
- Obtaining defense verdicts on behalf of insurance carriers, corporate entities, and insurance carriers in litigated matters and trials in Pennsylvania and New Jersey
- Obtaining a favorable settlement in the Superior Court of California on behalf of a business founder and owner in a corporate ownership dispute
