Overview
Vijay Mago defends employers against discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, and wrongful termination disputes under federal and state employment laws, including Title VII, the ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and FMLA. Vijay’s dual focus includes aggressive courtroom advocacy when disputes arise, combined with proactive counseling that addresses operational realities managers face. He understands that successful employment defense requires more than legal expertise—it requires insight into how workplace policies function under pressure and documentation systems that withstand scrutiny.
Vijay’s litigation experience includes single and collective claims, and complex class actions nationwide. He has defended employers against disability, age, race, gender, and national origin discrimination claims, as well as FMLA interference and retaliation claims, and FLSA collective/class actions. His approach to dispute resolution focuses on dismantling the plaintiff’s theories early through targeted discovery and motions practice, forcing opposing counsel to confront evidentiary gaps. He also devotes a significant portion of his practice to state law employment disputes involving wrongful discharge, breach of contract, non-compete enforcement, defamation, and tortious interference claims where business relationships and competitive positioning hang in the balance.
Consistent with his dual focus, Vijay transforms complex regulatory compliance challenges into streamlined business solutions. Vijay devotes substantial time to employment counseling that mitigates the potential for acrimony. He drafts anti-discrimination policies, discipline protocols, and employee handbooks that reflect how businesses operate rather than generic templates that fail under real-world pressure. He also conducts regular training for clients in furtherance of their anti-harassment and equal employment policies. He also provides legal counsel to mitigate risk and incorporate workforce dynamics, management capabilities, and industry-specific risk factors that determine whether policies protect employers or create liability.
Finally, Vijay also defends clients in commercial, business-to-business disputes arising under contract and statutory theories, and represents community associations in covenant enforcement, governance disputes, annual Board training, and fair housing matters. Among these clients are Woodlake, Brandermill, King’s Charter, Wyndham, Lake Monticello, Lake Holiday, and Cameron Bay, to name only a few. His substantial experience within the HOA/COA space allows clients to navigate emotionally charged disputes where legal rights intersect with community relationships. The skills that resolve HOA conflicts transfer directly to employment and commercial disputes, where similar interpersonal complexities drive litigation consequences.
