Overview

Overview

Sheri Mercier represents employers in labor and employment matters and insurance industry clients in payer dispute and managed care litigation. Her clients span the hospitality, non-profit, and automotive sectors, among others. She advises on hiring practices, employment regulations, anti-discrimination compliance, and workplace safety, helping organizations navigate day-to-day legal and operational challenges. Sheri is known for providing practical guidance that fits the realities of her clients' businesses, helping them manage legal risks while keeping their operations moving forward.

A significant part of Sheri's employment practice is helping clients reduce workplace risk before issues become disputes. She develops employee and volunteer training programs, drafts workplace policies and procedures, and provides practical guidance to managers and human resources professionals on implementing those policies. She also works with clients to update their employment practices as laws and regulations evolve. When claims do arise, Sheri represents clients in administrative proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation in state and federal courts.

In her payer dispute and managed care litigation practice, Sheri represents insurance payers, insurers, and third-party administrators in direct actions, class actions, and multidistrict litigation. Her cases often involve alleged violations of the Sherman Act, state antitrust statutes, and consumer protection laws. Sheri regularly handles out-of-network reimbursement disputes, provider network conflicts, and underpayment of claims. She approaches these matters with the same practical focus that defines her employment practice—working closely with clients to develop strategies that fit their legal and business objectives.

Sheri is also actively involved in the firm's attorney development efforts. She serves in a leadership role with the firm's summer associate program, helping coordinate the Chicago office's participation, and plays an important part in training and mentoring first-year associates.
