Overview

Overview

Meryl Mills works on the preventive side of employment law. Her practice focuses on compliance strategy, policy development, and management training—the infrastructure that aims to reduce litigation risk and support defensible employment decisions. She advises on wage and hour compliance, leave administration, performance management, and termination protocols across industries. What distinguishes her approach to problem solving is a practical understanding that effective employment policies and practices must balance legal protection with operational reality.

Meryl conducts comprehensive wage and hour and HR audits. She reviews and revises employee handbooks, employment agreements, and updates HR policies to reflect evolving federal, state, and local requirements – work that requires translating legal mandates into language that supervisors and HR professionals can effectively implement. Her counseling extends to the full employment lifecycle: structuring compliant hiring processes, documenting performance issues, navigating the interactive process for accommodation requests, and managing terminations.

Meryl also provides comprehensive training on a variety of compliance issues. She presents to management teams on harassment prevention, leave law compliance, performance documentation, and emerging employment law developments. These sessions go beyond checking the box compliance training; she equips managers to recognize and address employment issues and make decisions that align with both company policy and legal requirements.
