Dominique Caldwell guides employers through labor and employment disputes and assists businesses, organizations, and individuals in resolving a broad range of commercial litigation matters.
In labor and employment law, Dominique resolves sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation claims under Title VII and the ADA, as well as wrongful discharge and breach of contract lawsuits under state law. She counsels clients on employment policies and best practices, guiding them through internal investigations, employee discipline, terminations, and alternative dispute resolution. Her meticulous case preparation and comprehensive approach ensure clients are fully supported from initial consultation through final resolution, minimizing risk and maximizing favorable outcomes.
Dominique also defends licensed professionals and specialty licensing facilities, including childcare facilities, nursing homes, and other skilled care providers, against professional malpractice claims. This includes defending healthcare providers and licensed facilities in complex administrative and legal proceedings both in and out of court. Additionally, she represents commercial property owners and hospitality entities in human trafficking-related premises liability lawsuits, where she thrives on developing novel legal strategies in this evolving area. Her practice combines thorough defense tactics with creative problem-solving to achieve the best possible results for her clients.
Before joining the firm, Dominique served as a prosecutor in North Carolina’s 26th and 22nd Districts, trying over one hundred complex criminal cases and leading numerous jury trials. This prosecutorial background sharpened her courtroom presence and strategic thinking, giving her a distinct advantage in myriad types of litigation. Clients appreciate her straightforward counsel, grounded in courtroom-tested instincts and a clear-eyed assessment of risks and opportunities, enabling them to navigate difficult situations with confidence and clarity.

Dominique is passionate about civil and human rights, social action, and children. She can be found volunteering with various pro bono and community service initiatives in the greater Charlotte-Metro area. She is active in her church’s local student ministry, mentoring groups of middle and high-school-aged students in faith-based fellowship, activity, and service, and serves as a Big Sister of America.
