Overview

Partner and Management Committee member of the Chicago Office, Jamie Filipovic, is a nationally recognized labor and employment attorney, class action defense lawyer, and trusted advisor to employers, insurers, and businesses facing complex workforce and privacy-related challenges. For more than 23 years, she has represented Fortune 500 companies, privately held businesses, insurers, and management teams in high-stakes litigation, regulatory matters, and strategic employment counseling across the country.

As chair of the firm's AI, Biometric, Data Privacy and Complex Class Action Practice, Jamie has become a leading authority on advising and defending companies against emerging privacy and data-related claims. She has successfully defended hundreds of biometric, privacy, and technology-related class actions, including matters arising under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), and consumer privacy statutes, and other rapidly evolving data privacy laws. In addition to litigation defense, she counsels organizations on compliance, risk mitigation, and proactive privacy governance designed to reduce exposure before disputes arise.

Jamie maintains a sophisticated labor and employment practice representing employers in federal and state courts, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings nationwide. She routinely defends claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, restrictive covenants, executive employment matters, whistleblower allegations, and complex class and collective actions. Clients also rely on her strategic guidance regarding workforce management, reductions in force, internal investigations, policy development, compliance initiatives, labor relations, union campaigns, collective bargaining, NLRB proceedings, and labor arbitrations.

Insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured organizations regularly retain Jamie to defend employment practices liability, professional liability, and management liability claims. Her practical approach, deep litigation experience, and business-focused advice make her a valued partner in resolving high-exposure matters efficiently while protecting client relationships and reputations.

In addition to her employment and privacy practice, Jamie serves as chair of the firm's Sports, Entertainment, and NIL practice. As a certified NFL agent, she represents professional athletes, universities, collectives, sponsors, and student-athletes in connection with contract negotiations, endorsements, marketing agreements, public relations matters, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities. Her unique combination of legal, business, and industry experience allows her to guide clients through the rapidly evolving landscape of professional sports and athlete branding.
