Overview

Overview

As a proven litigator and premier trial advocate with over two decades of experience, Nick Kourvetaris has served as a trusted legal advisor to clients across multiple industries. Among those he serves are businesses, school districts, forest preserve districts, zoological societies, medical centers, homeowners, and construction entities. He brings a deep bench of litigation experience to defending claims across Illinois involving catastrophic injuries, death, contract disputes, premises liability, environmental hazards, septic pollution, dram shop, property damage, construction litigation, and housing discrimination.

Notably, Nick has tried 34 jury trials to verdict in Cook, McHenry, and Will counties, achieving 17 outright defense verdicts—one returned in just three minutes. Nick’s courtroom effectiveness stems from his ability to distill complex issues into clear and fact-based narratives that resonate with claim constituents and the courts alike. Clients value his commanding presence during cross-examination, where his preparation often reveals critical inconsistencies in testimony. Nick's calm demeanor under pressure and adaptability during proceedings have earned him a reputation as a formidable advocate who delivers results when stakes are highest.

Moreover, Nick has achieved numerous dismissals for clients throughout his career, including five motions for summary judgment in 2022 alone across multiple counties. These victories involved claims of environmental hazards, septic pollution, home inspector liability, and premises liability. His effectiveness as a litigator stems from his exceptional analytical skills and ability to identify dispositive legal issues early on in case development. Clients value his proactive case management approach and tailored defensive strategies. Nick's thorough legal research and persuasive written advocacy have made him particularly successful in securing pre-trial dismissals, saving clients significant time and resources.

Nick believes in giving back to the legal profession. He teaches torts and legal research and writing at Loyola University Chicago's Institute for Paralegal Studies and was a student-selected Professor of the Year in 2016. In addition, Nick has given numerous presentations as a featured speaker to the Illinois Paralegal Association over the past decade and is a featured speaker for Earthjustice.org regarding effective legal research tactics and best practices.
