Overview
Overview
James VanCamp is an intellectual property trial lawyer who represents innovators, businesses, and individuals in disputes involving patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, antitrust, and other complex commercial matters. He represents plaintiffs and defendants in federal courts throughout the United States, handling matters from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal. His broad litigation experience enables him to develop practical strategies that advance clients' business objectives while positioning every case for success at trial.
Before entering the legal profession, James studied biology and conducted laboratory research in bacterial pathogenesis and antibody production. His scientific training enables him to quickly master complex technologies, work effectively with inventors, scientists, engineers, and expert witnesses, and present technical concepts with clarity and precision. He has litigated intellectual property disputes across a broad range of technologies and industries, combining technical fluency with trial-focused advocacy.
James works to prevent disputes where possible and resolve them efficiently when they arise, but he prepares every case as though it will be tried. He believes the best outcomes are achieved through meticulous preparation, strategic judgment, and a command of the factual, technical, and legal record. In addition to his litigation practice, James writes on developments in intellectual property law, including patent law under 35 U.S.C. § 112 and Federal Circuit jurisprudence.
