Overview
Elizabeth Turner represents members of the business community in commercial disputes, business torts, fraud claims, and contract disputes, including general business and complex commercial disputes. She works with clients to provide an early assessment of the value and risk of the case and to develop a litigation strategy that considers not only that particular case, but also the impact on business operations as a whole.
Elizabeth regularly represents businesses in defense of class and single-plaintiff actions involving a variety of financial services and data and consumer protection statutes. She specializes in the defense of consumer statutory claims, such as the FCRA, EFTA, TCPA, TILA, UCC, UDAAP, RICO, and state equivalents, as well as data breach actions and complex commercial disputes—representing clients in the Fintech, consumer data, background screening, technology, and financial services industries. She has significant experience assisting clients with issues involving arbitration, particularly with respect to the evolving legal aspects of online arbitration agreements and consent. Elizabeth also represents clients in matters and investigations brought by state attorneys general and administrative agencies.
Elizabeth has particular experience handling cases in the Eastern District of Virginia. Drawing upon her experience serving as lead and local counsel in all four divisions of the Eastern District, as well as her tenure as a former law clerk in the Richmond Division, Elizabeth regularly advises clients in navigating the unique considerations of the “Rocket Docket.”
