Overview

David Lavine has devoted more than three decades to the practice of law, representing clients across an expansive spectrum of civil litigation. His practice encompasses the resolution of disputes involving securities fraud and consumer protection matters, breach of contract and unfair business practices, real estate controversies, labor and employment law violations, tax and immigration claims, toxic tort litigation, and intellectual property enforcement. This breadth of experience reflects not merely David’s undeniable versatility but also a fundamental commitment to understanding the distinct challenges each client faces and crafting strategies tailored to their specific circumstances.

David’s career commenced with distinction in the highly competitive Honors Program, where he served as a Trial Attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice before advancing to Assistant United States Attorney. During this formative period, he prosecuted complex cases involving immigration violations, narcotics trafficking, real estate fraud, financial crimes, and emerging computer-related offenses. This rigorous foundation in federal prosecution honed his litigation skill and trial acumen while instilling an exacting standard for legal analysis that continues to inform his civil practice today.

Moreover, David has contributed substantially to legal education and the broader professional community. He has lectured on legal writing, motion practice, trial and appellate advocacy, legal ethics, and various substantive legal topics at multiple law schools and professional training programs, both domestically and internationally. His commitment to the administration of justice extends to service as a judge pro tempore in the Superior Courts of Los Angeles and San Francisco Counties, where he has presided over proceedings with the same rigor and fairness that characterize his advocacy.

Throughout his career, David has maintained an unwavering dedication to excellence in legal representation. Whether navigating intricate regulatory frameworks, litigating high-stakes disputes, or counseling clients through complex legal challenges, he brings analytical precision, strategic thinking, and a deep respect for the rule of law to every matter he handles.
